Thoughts on being a Grandma for the first time…

This is the post excerpt.

Since I have just become a brand new “Ma” I thought I thought I would honor the occasion by sharing it with you…

BF ( Big Fella) and I are supper excited as you can imagine to welcome our brand new grand baby into the world. Everyone tells you how wonderful it is but I guess its a bit like raising your own child… until you’ve gone through it you don’t really understand.

At first we were elated when our Beautiful Daughter in Law went into labor but it dragged on as little miss wasn’t ready to greet the world yet… And yes when it finally happened there were tears… Both happiness and relief that all had gone well…

There she was – a beautiful perfect amazing little mix of her Mum and Dad… super long fingers and feet, dark hair, tiny little ears and a button nose and best of all that little mouth… a perfect pout like her Mumma.

So we have had a cuddle, shared the joy with the in-laws and satisfied ourselves that all is well with our little family so back home to the Making… with renewed vigor (so many presents to make for little miss)

Strange times indeed…

I know it has been a while but what can I say… Life throws you curve balls and you just have to try and catch them… I have missed a couple of catches in the last couple of months and it has taken a while to find them in the jungle of life…

Still enjoying the lovely Little Miss when i get to see her… They grow so fast… She is the most beautiful thing in the whole world and has helped keep me grounded in the last few months…

So now that things have settled down, I am itching to get into the million or so projects i have in mind… 28164424_171763616936196_6419992767101849829_oThe first thing I have to do is organise my dedicated craft space.. So I can work more efficiently… I am also starting a To do list with priorities so i can make sure I finish things…

I have a crochet blanket on the go for the Big Guy…23658370_292732234573694_1441734861282607928_n Although it has been too hot to do this, so I have various other things on the go as well and I tend to not finish all of them… So that is my goal – have projects that are ongoing but finish all the little ones I start…

Since I can’t actually crochet at the moment as I have bursitis in my shoulder and strained muscles/tendons in my arm, Yesterday I sat on the computer and shopped for 2nd hand chandeliers, as I wanted to make a space in my garden under a big tree for special occasion dinner parties and the like…

I rewired it to a plug in lead, so I can hang it in our big tree on a lovely clear night… I think it will be beautiful…

Anyway my youngest has just arrived as we are off on an adventure to the flower market… She is doing a course in floristry and the bonus is I get to play sometimes too…

bye for now –

Hi everyone,

I finally sat down to put the tutorial together for these cute little houses. I am so in love with them that I can literally make these all day long! Maybe that’s what I’ll do this evening!

I saw this cute little bunting on Pinterest a few months back and knew right away I had to give these a try. So out came some yarn & a hook and after a few trials and errors, I finally settled on a pattern I was happy with.

Now these are made top down so they will appear to be upside down in the pictures below, but worry not! Once we done with them, a quick flip and they will be ready to move in!

Booties and Beanies Take 2

So I took Great Nana M to see Little Miss for the first time today… Beautiful moments were shared with our 6 day old bundle of Sunshine. My Son is so patient with his Nana it is lovely to see the love shared between them and the adoration he has for his girls; both Wife and Little Miss.

I took the Beanies and Booties along but to my dismay the Red Beanie is too small and as I made it out of cotton for our warmer weather and I finished the edge with a row of single crochet, it will not stretch. The pattern was for 0-3 months but the yarn is obviously finer. The Grey one is fine as it has some stretch in it. So I am about to start another Red Santa beanie…

I learn something new every time I make something as even though I can read patterns I often improvise and change things. I should follow my instincts more because I thought it was a little small when I was finishing off…

Lucky I love to Crochet.

My Scented Garden

I love this time of year in the garden (actually I love all times of the year in the garden) as it smells divine… even though my garden is mostly tropical and native plants i have planted a few scented including a gardenia hedge!

When oldest got engaged we had a garden party to celebrate and I had the inspiration to plant a gardenia hedge, this year it has really come into its own. I am hoping it just gets better with age. I do trim it often to get  it nice and thick…

Another favorite is Night Jasmine (although it is very strong and gives some people a headache) Our family loves it and fortunately are not allergic to it. Summer nights with the smell of Night Jasmine drifting in the window are hard to beat.

We also have star Jasmine, Native Gardenia, Frangipani’s and an old favorite that we call yesterday, today and tomorrow…20171120_075303

I would like to add some lavender and more herbs as well.

As I love my scented plants I would love to hear of any others that i should add…

Booties and Beanies

Even though it is late November; the weather is unseasonably cool still here on the Gold Coast; so I have been having a bit of fun Crocheting a couple of pairs of booties and hats for Little Miss… when I finish learning how to use all the goodies here I will post some links to patterns that I used…

I started these before Little Miss was born… I am looking forward to making some pretty girly ones now that she is here…
